Before parting ways yesterday with Mister Yokohama, we arranged to meet up again to take on the otaku filled town that is Akiba. You know for Maid Cafes, Gundam and things. Seriously.
After arriving at Yoko-kun's university a little late (I assume we got lost on our way) it was off to see what it was like to hang out in a Maid Cafe.
Weird? Yeah, I guess you could say it was a little odd being served bad coffee by extremely delightful girls dressed as maids. So it was weird and extremely awkward. That's all I'm sharing on the matter.
Similar to Harajuku, there's just so much going on in the one area. You have girls at every junction promoting their store, cafe or restaurant. The jungle of bright lights and tall buildings close in on you until you inevitably stumble into a store. My days of assembling Gundam kits are behind me, even still, you can appreciate how well these "niche" communities are catered for. Just stay out of the maid cafes.
